David Kopriva, known as artist Kopri, released his second EP last night at midnight. You can give it a listen on all platforms!

We were able to conduct an interview with him regarding his music and got a fun glimpse into what it’s like to be an emerging artist in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. We thought we would hit him with the hard question first, how do you define your music? Here’s what Kopri said:

“I am one of the most indecisive people on the planet so putting a specific label on the music I make is really hard for me. In a funny way I actually think you could use the word "indecisive" to describe my sound thus far. I'm kind of all over the place. Whatever I enjoy at the time, that's the music I'm going to make. I'm really trying to have fun with it and I hope that shows in my music. I want people to feel good and dance even if I'm talking about some real s***, you know? Genre doesn't really matter a ton to me. I'd like people thinking of my stuff as "feel good" music, if anything.”

We’ll let ya’ll decide for yourself the kind of vibe you get when you listen to Kopri.

He also took time to discuss with us some of the inspirations behind his writing, which somewhat stem from his breakup with his long time girlfriend before college. Though we all know how tough that can be, the art and music that comes from hard times can be some of the best and we’re so greatful.

Prior to this EP, Kopri produced a lot of his music himself. But, upon attending college he met some “insanely talented dudes” who have helped him with his latest release. He says that he still has a large role in production, but he wants each track to get better and better.

Some of the best advice that he has ever received was during a time when he’s was struggling to find his own ‘sound’ and a friend told him that, “you just gotta make your own interpretation of what music is.” He said that this was something he would always think of moving forward when it comes to the creation of his music. Kopri gave us some more words to live by when he said:

“DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK!”

The music he has listened to throughout his life has ranged from Stevie Wonder and The Temptations to Post Malone, Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, Drake and more.

“Recently I've had Surfaces, Jeremy Zucker and BENEE playing nonstop. I am SO happy we've got that disco feel coming back in music now. I've been needing happy music to keep me dancing in quarantine…”

Speaking of quarantine, we asked if we could expect some live shows anytime soon, to which he replied:

“Who knows. We are in such a weird time. I had summer plans to be in LA doing some things, but everything's kind of up in the air now. If I do play some shows, they'd be locally in Milwaukee.”

So if you live in Wisconsin you are quite lucky!

Kopri gave a shout out to all of his hometown friends, that have been extremely supportive of his music. He also included that “anyone who listens to my music is an automatic homie of mine 100%. No question.”

You heard that. If Kopri seems like he’d be a good pal, then go check out his new EP “i’m all good (sometimes)” on ALL platforms now!
